Content & Article Writing Made Easy – 3 Critical Steps

Saturday, January 28th, 2012

Hi here’s my Simple 3 Step Plan for easy content and article writing.

Now before you go any further you must create an outline of what you believe the article should be achieving. So if your article is about planting out roses you would probably cover ” buying plants, conditions for ideal planting, having the right soil & nutrients, size of hole, whether it needs a stake and watering instructions”. That outline gives you your starting point to then put some detail together – hope this makes sense.

Now heads up here this is not a miracle cure for writers block but if you put this 3 point plan into action I guarantee you’ll find your writing comes more easily, flows better and most importantly becomes less difficult and that my friends is a major plus, so without wasting anymore time lets get straight into Steps 1 through to 3 and then your off!!

Step 1. -Break It Down Into Sub Points

Divide the article into its various sub-points. You’ll have an overall focus and point of the article, so now you’re looking for the natural divisions. For each of these sub-topics, just as with the article as a whole, think of attention-grabbing titles and enticing first sentences. Consider each one another mini-article to pull your reader along. Make sure that each of these presents its information quickly and concisely so that the reader doesn’t get bogged down.

Step 2. – Start Building

Once you’ve done this, your article is like the frames of a house. It’s all set up and ready to go. Now it’s time to start building. Starting at the beginning, move along your article connecting all of the topics to each other. This is the article’s body. At the end of your article, write a conclusion that quickly summarizes its most important parts.

Step 3. – Check & Double Check

Once it’s written, you’ve got your first draft. Don’t consider it done quite yet. You may have to rewrite it a time or two before its perfect. That’s why we call it a draft. It’s not finished yet. Don’t be embarrassed as you read over it; it’s not going to be published. Change the things you don’t like and tweak it until you see nothing you think you should change.

While re-reading your article, you might want to refer to your outline to make sure it follows it correctly. Things might change a little when you do the actual writing, but make sure it sticks to the point. Otherwise, the time you spend making the outline will go to waste. Throughout the whole process, your outline should be the core of the article. This will ensure that it says perfectly what you want to say.

Eight Best Places For Building Authoritative One-Way Links

For any online webmaster or marketer, two things will consume most of your time: rankings and traffic. Usually, these two objectives will go hand-in-hand, the higher your rankings the more traffic you will receive. However, as you probably already know, getting higher rankings and traffic can be somewhat difficult.

One of the best ways to achieve both, is to build one-way links from existing authoritative sites on the web.

Now, let’s be honest, building quality one-way links will take some effort and time on your part. However, this can be done much quicker if you know exactly where to look for those authoritative sites or places which will let you create links back to your site.

Here are some good places or sources for Authoritative One-Way link building:

1. Press Releases

Press releases have become what article marketing was just a few years ago… excellent way to get quality one-way links back to your site. You can use both free and paid press releases to get your message out. Many marketers have had success with PRweb, but it can be somewhat costly but highly worth it. A well written press release will usually get picked up and displayed on numerous niche-related sites, boosting both your traffic and rankings.

2. Wikipedia Type Sites

Such places as Wikipedia and Google Knol are also excellent sources of quality one-way links. These can also give you those all important in-content links, as well as links in the resource section of the article. Everything will be theme focused, so your links will carry more PageRank juice in the eyes of Google.

3. Powerful .edu and .gov Link

Mainly because they are seen as non-commercial and coming from prestige sites or institutions, .edu and .gov links are some of the most effective and powerful one-way backlinks you can receive. Try to go out of your way to build these types of links for your site. For example, if you went to a college or university, try getting links from any Alumni pages. If your college has a newsletter section, try to get links there.

4. How To Sites

Yes, we know, Google with its Panda Update and countless follow-up changes to its algorithm, have hit these kinds of sites hard. But the quality ones are still great places to build one-way links. Often if you write a great how-to guide in your niche and place it on these sites, you will get an instant page one Google listing. For starters, try sites like eHow and Squidoo.

5. DoFollow Social Sites and Profiles

If you haven’t noticed, the web has gone social. Some of the best places for authoritative one-way links are in these social networking/bookmarking sites and profiles, especially if you build up your followers and subscribers. Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Google+… will all give you opportunities to build your one-way links.

6. Memberships and Testimonials

You must always be pro-active when it comes to link building, so go out of your way to get links from any memberships you may belong to. Also, giving testimonials for your favorite site or product can be another excellent way to get authoritative links as these links are usually displayed on the main/index page of a site.

7. Embedded Videos/Slideshows/Software

Many webmasters have had great success by using embedded software, videos, awards, slideshows… to create one-way links back to their sites. For example, just look at how Slideshare.net builds its backlinks. You can try something similar or use that program to share your content and build your own links.

8. Site And Blog Commenting

While many sites are cracking down or making all their links NoFollow… commenting on blog and sites is still an effective way to get those backlinks. Many online marketers create Google Alerts for their targeted keywords and when any related links are indexed in Google, they get an email. They then thoroughly check out those links to see if it is worth their while to make a comment.

There you have it, some of the best places to help you build your all important authoritative one-way links. Many marketers simply take a few minutes of each day to build these types of links back to their sites. Over time these links will increase and you will receive more traffic and higher rankings as a direct result of these powerful one-way links.

What Are Backlinks And 10 Ways To Get Them?

Saturday, June 4th, 2011

A backlink is where your website shows up on another web page. The World Wide Web is made up of links. The more of them you have pointing to your website the more traffic you can potentially get.

So how do you get more backlinks? I say the answer to this question is to get them in as many different ways as you can. Here are 10 ways to get started with.

1. Article marketing. I have built up thousands of backlinks to my various websites using this strategy. It works.

Write articles around a targeted keyword phrase and submit them to online article directories. Be sure to hyperlink your targeted keyword phrase back to your website in the resource box of the article.

2. Deep link. This is a good strategy for driving traffic to web pages you have other than your home page.

You can develop backlinks by deep linking to these pages when you put a link on other web pages you have. You can also link directly to these pages in all of your marketing strategies including article marketing.

3. Blog. When you make a blog post you should bookmark it to social directories. I use Only Wire for this.

Search engine spiders these social directories every day. When they find your link they will come back to your blog which helps you rank on the search engine for the keyword phrases you are blogging about.

4. Blog comments. This is a simple strategy where you post comments on other people’s blogs. Rather than include your name, list a keyword phrase in the name field. Then include your website URL.

5. Discussion forums. Join relevant forms and set up a signature file. Link back to your website in a signature file and every time you make a post you get it backlink. Do this on do blogs that provide do follow links.

6. Guest blogger. Write blog articles and submit them to other bloggers.

Make sure each article is unique and only submitted one time. Most bloggers will allow you to include one or two links in either a resource box or in the body of your blog article.

7. Submit Your Article. Use their patented Article Leverage program to send unique articles to hundreds of article directories. Your articles can also be picked up by other Internet marketers, ezine publishers, and so on.

8. Free Traffic System. Submit blog articles into their system.

You can include up to three links in the body of your article if you are a Pro Member and 2 if you are a free member. This is a good place to link back to inner pages on your website and develop a broad range of backlinks on other people’s blogs.

9. Buy text link ads. Look for established websites or blogs that will sell you a link on their site.

10. Trade links. Find relevant websites that do not compete with you and place their link on your site if they add your link to theirs.

These are 10 possible ways you can get backlinks to your website, blog, and inner web pages. This is the best long-term strategy for developing ongoing traffic.

Another Basic Topic

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

As I was out strolling the web this evening my attention was drawn to another web basic that I had not specifically discussed in the Website Basics section. I had a page on navigation, but basic to navigation is the link system. I wrote up an article on the topic and posted it to the Website Basics section this evening. I expect to find a few more topics and I am soliciting suggestions for basic topics that I have not covered.

Leave a comment in this blog and you will get a do follow link. Follow the instructions in the comment section to get a good keyword link to your site.
