Things To Consider With Internet Privacy

Sunday, December 4th, 2011

The issue of privacy and the internet is a particularly relevant one especially in the light of the recent Wikileaks saga and the need to have privacy controls in place. The internet is unregulated but there are concerns about the risk of sensitive or personal information being made available to the general public.

No one wants to see a heavily policed internet which would stifle innovation, experimentation and other forms of self expression which are part of its appeal. But there needs to be balance between free speech and protecting personal information.

Internet privacy This refers to the storage, access and display of information about an individual which is personal and in some cases, potentially damaging if made public. This includes:
- Bank details, e.g. accounts
- Medical information
- Personal information, e.g. age, name and address
- Reviews/feedback
- CRB check

It is up to you how much information you reveal about yourself and there is information which can be shared without causing any damage. But information relating to personal finances, such as online banking needs to be kept private.

There is a risk of information such as this being hacked into it so it is important that you have safeguards in place when carrying out financial transactions. This means ensuring that your computer’s anti virus software is up to date, not writing your user name and password down, shredding personal documents and checking your bank and credit card statements.

Identity theft This is a growing problem as it has become easier for criminals to steal personal information in order to commit fraud or other crimes. They use this information to set up bogus accounts or commit crimes in your name.

The consequences can be serious. It can mean large sums of money being taken from your bank accounts but also means a bad credit rating, difficulty in taking out a loan or mortgage or being unable to get a job due to a poor reference.

Tips for protecting yourself online There are things you can do to protect yourself against identity theft which include:
- Keeping any user names and passwords safe. Do not write these down on paper and leave lying around.
- Keep personal information in a secure place
- Shred documents such as bills or bank statements rather than throwing them in the bin.
- Notify your bank immediately if your cards are stolen or lost
- Check your bank and credit card statements on a regular basis to see if there any unauthorised withdrawals or items you cannot account for.
- Make sure that you have up to date anti-virus software and spyware.

These are all easy to do and won’t take up much of your time. It is better to be safe than sorry.

3 Steps To Walk Your Road To Riches And To Walk Your Way To Success

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

By Charles Kiyimba

Do you want to be successful in your life? How are you mapping your road to riches? How are you walking your way to success? Of course, we all want to lead a successful life. We all want a new home, a new car, to be financially secure, to have a happy family and many others. Nobody was created to live a mediocre kind of life. And nobody aims at that. But is it possible for success to come your way when you do not have clearly defined goals?

If you really want to become rich in your life, there are three important steps you will inevitably have to set your heart on. You will have to visualize, set clear goals and focus your mind on achieving them. It’s such a clear road to riches, although very few people follow it. The day you learn to follow the three steps, you will then have known the secret behind walking your way to success.

The first step to riches is visualization. Do you always visualize your desires? Do you always see your desires in your imagination every time? If you have not been doing it, it’s high time you started applying this simple ingredient to riches for you to see many positive changes in your life. When you see your desires in your mental mirror and draw imaginary pictures in your mind, you definitely tell your SUBCONSCIOUS MIND to begin working on them by picking facts, which it bakes productively to give you responses on how to fulfill your desires.

Desiring is not just wishing temporarily to have something and you stop there. For instance, if you need to start a new business, you don’t just stop at saying it and wishing to have one. Everybody wishes to have a business. But for you to have one, you have to focus your mind on it. You have to even see yourself in the picture of having it already. Then your subconscious mind will work out ways for you to start your own business. That’s how it works.

Walking the road to riches does not stop at only visualizing. After you have visualized what you desire in your life, you follow it up by establishing your goals. Setting goals helps you to know where you are going and how to go there step by step. It helps you to avoid giving up when faced with a temporarily defeat, to do things from easier to the most difficult, to aim higher and to remain focused.

For example, when you want to start a home business, you visualize in your mind the type of business to do. Then you set your goals on when and how to start it. You also set your goals on the kind of support and skills you need. All these have to be well planned and it’s always a good practice to write them down. Achievable goals do not remain in your head. Putting them down helps you to walk swiftly the road to success.

After clearly defining your goals, you have to put them in your computer or the subconscious mind. Let them be absorbed in the mind for you to react the right way. For the subconscious mind to work on them, it needs to repeat the mental pictures it draws about the actions. That’s how it works. When you focus your mind on your goals, the subconscious mind will bring to you the people to support you to begin your business. It will provide you with the energy to work on your business tirelessly. It will help you to turn what seemed to be impossible to something very easy to achieve. Are you ready to do that?

As you plan to start your journey to riches, be reminded that success does not come by with wishes. It’s not about admiring other successful people. It’s about changing your ways of doing things. Learn to visualize, learn to set clear goals and to focus your heart on achieving your goals. You will then find the road to riches a very smooth road.

Why You Are Not Abundant Yet?

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

Everyone wants to be spiritually abundant and most people would also welcome being financially abundant. It is commonly perceived that it is easier to be spiritually abundant than to be financially abundant. But is this really true?

As much as most people believe in an abundant world, many still think, feel and act like the world we live in is one of lack. And most of the time, it is not even a conscious awareness that we are operating out of lack. We consciously want to be abundant, but everything else we do come from lack.

The path to abundance is essentially becoming aware of how abundance operates within our consciousness, and then moving through the shackles of lack, and allowing self to be open to the abundant Universe. This requires a lot of courage. Why? Because lack comes from fear and fear would have you remain in lack for as long as it can. It has no desire to wither and die while we become abundant, joyful and in harmony with the Universe. Fear fights hard to stay alive. In order to fight the fears we must have the courage to do so.

Have you ever had an experience whereby you get excited by an idea you have, only to shoot it down because of circumstances you perceive as an impossibility to achieve or manifest your idea? Well, that is fear in operation. The fear is telling you it cannot be done, the world economy is not doing well, people will not buy it, you are not good enough, you are crazy to think you can do it, and so on. This stops you from manifesting your idea and goal because fear has done a good job.

Would you believe it if you were told that your fear has done a better job at keeping you where you are than you are at manifesting your abundant dream? Let’s put it this way: as long as you are not abundant in any aspect of your life, you still have fear working through you. Plain and simple.

We all have fears. And it is our divine duty to conquer them and not to listen and give power to the fears simply by not listening to the fears. Too often people often say that the small voice in them is telling them not to do something. If that thing you are supposed to do is meant to create more life and abundance, then they have listened to the small voice of fear and made it larger than life.

Not being abundant means being in fear. Being in fear moves us further from our spiritual goals because we cannot become spiritually enlightened while we still have fears. So really there’s nothing spiritual about being in poverty. Hopefully this gives you something to think about.

Methods To Get A Good Quality E-book Reader

Saturday, August 13th, 2011

With all of the Ebook readers available today, it can be challenging to select just what kind that’s right for you. Though most of us can have our individual tastes, some people are going to be a lot more driven towards other kinds of Ebook readers compared to what I’m driven towards. As a personal choice, I prefer to see that my gadgets are up to date, no matter how old or new they might be. Furthermore, I want to make sure that I’m obtaining the most bang for my money that I can get. There is no doubt realizing that these judgements also go over to my range of Ebook reader.

Because of this, the best choice of electronic book reader would be the Kindle by Amazon. It’s amazingly compact, has an exceptionally long life of the battery, and you will usually see your favorite books on the web as low as $0.99, and even free quite often!

Yet, there are many other Ebook readers, besides the Kindle. You can also find the Google Reader, Sony Reader, Wiki E-book, and Ebooks.com All of these resources are great for obtaining and reading through great E-books for just a great value. Instead of paying whopping prices that the authors mostly don’t even get to see, you can aquire your book in an electronic format for often less than 1/20th of the cost, as well as it goes to the author(that, sadly, is much more than what they would’ve been paid for if you purchased the book in paperback form).

What makes a good Ebook reader is it being able to easily obtain your books, having a long battery life, and having a screen that is not difficult to view. Again and again, I have seen screens which made almost everything just really complicated to check out, aside from have the ability to see the small words which are on the screen. Because of this, I would say it’s essential to have a good looking screen, and ensure that it stays clean. Another component that you need to search for if you are acquiring an Ebook reader would be to look for the price of the Ebooks that you’re going to buy. Even if your reader is $100 less than what the various other reader you’re contemplating getting is, if the books are even a couple of dollars more, you’re going to find that you will be spending tons more over time.

For more information about Ebook readers, a quick search online will find a number of websites that research the pro’s and cons of any Ebook reader that is out there, whether micro sized, or one that is online. You may also find several discount coupons and deals for viewers and subscribers of the websites, and they update per week with latest content discussing every thing and anything concerning digital readers. There is everything from specific readers which reviewers really recommend, to all kinds of items you need to be cautious about, along with accessories for your Ebook reader that can help make your living significantly less difficult plus more beneficial!

Google Wallet Is Launched

Friday, August 12th, 2011

I was having an online discussion with a blogger yesterday, and things got exciting when we talked about Google’s latest baby – the Google Wallet.

“Tap, pay, and save with Google Wallet.

In the past few thousand years, the way we pay has changed just three times—from coins, to paper money, and then plastic cards.

Now we are on the brink of the next big shift.”

So goes Google’s vision for Google Wallet.

Google Wallet is a type of phone application that can turn your mobile phone into a mobile wallet at the point of sale.

The Launch is supposed to be Google’s way to make mobile shopping a pleasurable experience for businesses especially for the consumers. From the part of the consumer, payment is made even easier; and, from the merchants or businesses’ end, promos, discounts and offers like coupons to be given away and loyalty programs can now be easily facilitated. Credit cards can also be put in. In the future, Google Wallet is envisioning that airline boarding passes and tickets, ID and even keys could be stored in it!

Google is still in the process of field-testing it in the US and is working alongside Citi, MasterCard, Sprint, First Data as well as a few number of retailers. Expect it to be launched officially in the summer.

Google Wallet is combining NFC or near-field communication with what they are calling PN65, a secure element chip paired with NFC. There is no need of swiping.

It’s supposed to work in just two very simple steps: Look for the Google Wallet or MasterCard PayPass symbols at checkout. And just simply tap your phone into the reader!

Voila! Payment has been processed and made.

Well, you have to hand it to Google to market it anew as if it were something revolutionary when in fact; this concept is not totally new or foreign at all. I would like to think that the reason Google has partnered with MasterCard on this endeavor is that the latter has been using tapping of credit cards to wirelessly pay instead of swiping the card (the concept behind the MasterCard PayPass).

And, here is a bit of trivia that was shared with me re: Google Wallet: the VP of Payments of Google used to be PayPal.

Well, if you want to find out and know more about the Google Wallet, feel free to check out their official website.

The Joys of Job Hunting

Saturday, August 6th, 2011

The marketplace has never been as congested as it is today, which means two things for job hunters – opportunity and competition. It’s not enough to have the degrees, it’s not even enough to have the internships or preliminary experience, today more than ever employers are looking for the full package, and that includes extracurricular work, a digital footprint and possibly a portfolio of some kind. With the economy where it is at the moment, employers really do have their pick of the crop, which means that job hunters have to go above and beyond to prove that they deserve the position in question.

Just as someone who has never skied more than during the occasional family Christmas trip to the Alps wouldn’t try out for the Olympics, a person who barely uses the web would have a hard time finding work at a digital agency. This is not to discourage job hunters, but there are people who have been building websites, designing sites and interacting with social channels for years. They know the ins and outs of functionality; have an eye for aesthetics and a strong understanding of the digital landscape.

But don’t worry; it’s never too late to learn. Some steps you might take to help get you started – and to learn whether or not you even enjoy what you’re after – include:

Playing with social tools:

There is a plethora of social channels online. Some designed to communicate with friends, others to aggregate content, and some to be entertained by. Sign up for a few that interest you and have a play. Don’t worry about how many connections you make or followers you have, just observe what other people are doing, who’s using the channels well and where you fit into it all. Not only will this give you a greater sense of the technology but it will give you a platform where employers can find you, interact with you and see what you’re all about.

Start a blog:

Blogs are online diaries through which you can communicate anything and everything that interests you. It’s of course best to choose a theme and an angle and publish regular content that fits in with it. Blogs are a great way to start building a bit of a portfolio and a place to aggregate your thoughts. Moreover, you’ll have a personal website which you’ll be interested to market online. This might involve commenting on other people’s blogs, or building out your profile via other social channels. Once you have a following you can start interacting with your readers and see what else is out there.

These are two small ways to start building something you can show to employers. It is simply no longer enough to just have an email address and telephone number on the top of your CV, especially not if you’re looking for a job in digital.

Finding Lost Classmates, Boyfriends, and Girlfriends

Saturday, August 6th, 2011

In very small schools it can be quite easy to find and round up the names addresses and phone numbers of former classmates. Usually a small schools everyone knows everyone else and is quite easy to find someone who knows at least one person’s address and location at any given time.

However, in larger schools it can be quite problematic as to using this method for finding all the persons of a given class for scheduling a class reunion. In these cases is best to reach out to the Internet and use some of the low-cost and no-cost methods we will outline below.

The simplest way to find a person for the class reunion is simply to type in their full name along with the school name on an Internet search engine. Adding the city and state can also be beneficial in these types of searches. For schools and small towns this can be a quite easy process. However, in larger cities can be quite difficult as there can be many people with the same name in the same city. This can result in numerous search results for that person’s name in a given city.

In this case, if there is a known last phone number or address for that person, that can be inputted also into the search phrase and perhaps there’ll the results down. Additionally, if a known workplace can be inputted into the search phrase this can help also as many workplace websites detail people’s names and contact information via the company site.

If all else fails, in finding several people as a priority for your class reunion, there are inexpensive packages that are very good at finding specific people on the Internet. The best part about these packages is that there’s no charge unless a successful search is done and that person is found. A deposit with a credit card is required to begin the search but the card is not further charged and is refunded should a search proved to be unsuccessful. This is a very quick and easy way to find a loss person or class reunion.

You ever wonder what happened that long-lost boyfriend you had back in high school? I today with Internet search technologies never been easier to find your old flames via the Internet. It’s quick and easy and most cases you can have the answer to where your lost loved one is within seconds via one of the popular search engine.

To begin the search simply type in the person’s full name last known city they lived in any workplace information you may have about them. If the person’s name is quite unique in the city is not too large this search alone should result in successfully finding your lost lover.

However, if the name of your loss person is quite common and or the city is quite large, you could end up having numerous search results for that specific person’s name in that specific city. In that case, it would simply become a matter of trial and error for researching each search result the find out if that was the specific person you are looking for.

If you are quite desperate and finding your lost lover, and don’t have good results from doing the types of searches we outlined above, there are also many paid services for finding lost people on the Internet. Although these services can range in price up to $100 per search, they do have a guarantee.

If you pay for their service to find the person you are looking for and they are not successful in their search, your credit card will not be charged in most cases. Always check with their terms of service before signing up with a given service to find out whether or not they offer a 100% moneyback guarantee for their service.

There are many situations over the course of a lifetime where it may be necessary to locate a lost or missing family member. Today with Internet search technology it’s never been easier to locate these family members who may have gone missing over a period of time.

Before the Internet came to the point it is today, it was problematic and finding lost family members. One had to engage the services normally of a private investigator which could be quite expensive to find a lost person.

These private investigators came with a price whether or not the person was found or not. Today with search technology, it oftentimes is a simple matter of inputting the persons name and last known location into a search box and pressing the enter key. Within seconds, in many cases, that persons current workplace, address, and/or phone number can be found.

It’s important to remember that numerous search terms may be required. Perhaps the person is going by his or her initials along with her last name or some combination of initials and names. Try as many different combinations as you can and all of the glass known cities that person may have lived in.

If using this free technology is not successful in finding your lost family member, there are numerous packages and paid for services online which can be utilized. The best part about using these services is that you don’t have to do the work, they’re usually quite quick, and you don’t need to pay them unless they complete the service successfully by finding the lost person.
