CyberSquatting Case Study

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

I am a member of the KompoZer forum. There was recently a case where a domain name had expired and been purchased by someone in Russia. This is a case of cybersquatting almost certainly. I am writing up the details in an article on the main site, so I will not present all of the details here.

CyberSquatting has been going on almost as long as the Internet has been in existence. There are various ways in which this is carried out. I have an earlier article that discusses another aspect of cybersquatting, although that case was more a matter of speculating in a domain name. The topic is addressed by various governing bodies. It is possible that the current case could be resolved through an Icann procedure, but it may be more trouble than it is worth in this case.

Have you had any experiences with CyberSquatting? What are your thoughts on the subject?

Another Basic Topic

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

As I was out strolling the web this evening my attention was drawn to another web basic that I had not specifically discussed in the Website Basics section. I had a page on navigation, but basic to navigation is the link system. I wrote up an article on the topic and posted it to the Website Basics section this evening. I expect to find a few more topics and I am soliciting suggestions for basic topics that I have not covered.

Leave a comment in this blog and you will get a do follow link. Follow the instructions in the comment section to get a good keyword link to your site.

The Website Basics Section

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

I have just uploaded the last few pages for the current phase of this website update. There are about 15 new pages on the site at this point. I will try to revisit the site soon to add even more content.

The history of this site is this. The site was originally developed because an acquaintance bid on a couple of sites on ebay and won the auction. He had no idea of the mechanics of the web or Internet Marketing. He bought into the line that he could own these ‘money making’ websites. I think that he has made some small change with his purchase, but probably not up to the level of the dream. I wanted to provide some information that might alert prospective buyers about some of the practices that go on on the web.

I  did not have much content on the site and there was really little reason for people to visit the site. Since the information that I had on the site was aimed at new hopeful Internet Marketers I decided to expand the scope of the site to include all who are thinking about building or owning a website. And so . . . The Website Basics section was born.

I originally considered just a few pages to cover the material, but one thing lead to another. As I was writing some of the content I would think of another topic that should be discussed and some other features that should be added to the site. So now, phase one of the re-purposing of this site is now on the web. Stop by the main site to see the update: Before You Buy a Website

This blog is now ‘do follow’ and uses KeywordLuv so leave an honest comment and get a backlink. I do have the blog set so that I manually authorize comments. Your quality comment will show up when I check it off. Thands

Keyword Luv and a Do Follow Plug-in Installed

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

I have just finished installing a Do Follow plug-in and the KeywordLuv plug-in on this blog. I do have comments set to manual approval for all posts, so a comment will not appear until I do approve it. I am pleased that you checked out the blog and I invite you to leave a quality comment that expresses your opinion on the material in the blog or on the main site. I have also installed these plug-ins on my blog on my Selling on Your Website site.

Thanks!

Keywords +

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Some of the update is completed and on the web. I have added several pages of content and tweaked some other things. The problem with adding content is that there is always some other idea that pops into my mind as to other things that would be of value to the site.

There are several new items in the left nav pane. The items in the list that are not linked are items that I plan to write soon. I also redid the top and bottom nav bars and added some pages to both of them. I plan to submit the Keyword article to Ezine Articles for consideration. Check it out now on the main site: Before You Buy a Website

I am doing an update to this site. I have added a For Sale Page (as soon as it is uploaded). I am doing some other site tweaks and adding some additional content as well. I want to improve the quantity and quality of the information available here. Check out the main site for the additions:  Before You Buy a Website
